Learn Laugh Play – Online classes and a Community for Home Educating Families

Learn Laugh Play is a UK-based online learning platform and community for home-educating families, providing live online classes, recorded learning, and community-based support.

Founded in 2020 by Home Educating Mum and qualified teacher Lisa Pollen, Learn Laugh Play emphasises fun child-led and inclusive learning in a safe, flexible, and engaging environment.

The platform supports children aged 4–16 and offers a combination of academic learning, enrichment activities, and social opportunities, allowing families to create a personalised home education experience.

What Learn Laugh Play Offers

Learn Laugh Play combines structured learning with community-based support.

Families can access:

– live online classes (with recordings included in each class membership)
GCSE, IGCSE and Functional Skills courses, including exam marking and feedback
– enrichment classes, project-based learning, and creative activities
– optional extra learning between lessons, including worksheets and extension tasks
– a safe messaging system allowing children to connect with teachers and classmates
– a dedicated resource platform at llpextralearningspace.co.uk, offering mini courses, educational escape rooms, and additional learning materials

The platform is designed to provide both flexibility and continuity, allowing children to revisit lessons, learn at their own pace, and remain part of an ongoing learning environment.

A Community-Based Approach to Home Education

Learn Laugh Play is not only a provider of online classes, but also a community for home-educating families.

Children can take part in:

– weekly social and learning clubs
– small group learning communities known as “Tribes”
– monthly learning competitions
– themed events and celebrations, including World Book Day and seasonal activities
– end-of-term parties to celebrate learning

The platform also offers an optional annual community membership, providing additional opportunities for families to connect and support one another.

This community-led approach allows children to grow in confidence, develop friendships, and feel a sense of belonging.

Sharing Communities (“Tribes”)

An important feature of Learn Laugh Play is our optional weekly group learning communities, known as “Tribes”.

In these groups:

– children meet weekly with the same teacher and peers
– group sizes are kept at a maximum of 25 students
– tribes are mixed age groups, creating a family energy
– children build a personal learning journal over time
– learning is reflected on and discussed regularly

At the end of each term, the Tribe leader provides a personalised written reflection on each child’s learning and development.

This structure supports continuity, confidence, and a strong sense of community.

Supporting Different Types of Learners

Learn Laugh Play is committed to inclusive and child centred learning. We support a wide range of learners. Many of our children are neurodiverse and/or children that did not thrive in a school environment. It is a joy to see children loving their learning within our classes and community.

The platform offers:

– flexible participation (live or recordings)
– predictable lesson structures
– a safe and supportive learning environment
– opportunities to engage at an individual pace

This approach allows families to adapt learning to suit the needs of their child.

Educational Philosophy

Learn Laugh Play is based on the belief that children learn best when they feel safe, supported, and engaged.

The platform combines:

– structured teaching for key subjects
– informal and play-based learning opportunities
– community and connection

This balance allows children to develop confidence, curiosity, and a positive relationship with learning.
The aim is not to replicate school at home, but to provide an alternative approach that supports each child’s individual learning journey.

Meet the Founder

Learn Laugh Play was founded by Lisa Pollen, a qualified primary school teacher with over 25 years of experience in education.

– home-educating families across the UK
– children who benefit from flexible or alternative education
– families seeking both academic support and community connection
