Purpose

As an education provider, Learn Laugh Play is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all users.
This Behaviour Policy supports safeguarding, equality, and positive learning experiences for all participants.

General Behaviour Expectations

All users are expected to:

  • behave in a respectful and appropriate manner at all times;
  • contribute to a safe and supportive learning environment;
  • treat others with kindness, fairness, and respect differences;
  • follow instructions given by teachers and Learn Laugh Play staff;
  • avoid any behaviour that may disrupt learning or cause harm to others.·
  • not share personal information. (Safeguarding concerns will be handled in line with LLP policies).

Unacceptable Behaviour includes:

  • bullying, harassment, or discrimination;
  • inappropriate language or behaviour; including being disrespectful/rude/unkind either verbally or in chat
  • disruption or misuse of chat; including spamming the chat and use of inappropriate emojis
  • sharing inappropriate content or unauthorized recording or sharing;-  disrupting lessons including, scribbling on screen, putting microphone on when asked not to, refusing to put camera on for register (unless with password), leaving and returning repeatedly (unless a genuine IT issue)

Consequences:

Any disruption will be addressed straight away using our warning system and, as needed, removal. This is not about being strict, it is about being fair to every child in the room and protecting the learning experience. Being kind to the group as a whole means removing someone whose behaviour is making the experience difficult, impossible to learn or potentially traumatic based on children being forced to relive school based trauma.  Our staged approach in lessons:

1. Establish expectations at the start of the lesson.

2. Immediately call out a behaviour that breaks those expectations (kindly but firmly saying that that behaviour isn’t acceptable and you will unfortunately have to put them in the waiting room for a short time if it continues.

3. (optional dependent on severity) 2nd chance repeat statement.

4. Very kindly and say why, remove to the waiting room and allow their return after a few minutes. This step should be taken on the 2nd or 3rd incident from a child so that negative behaviour is never allowed to dominate a lesson and ruin the learning experience for others.

5. If behaviour continues, move to the waiting room again and this time ask them to get their parents to get in touch with admin. This step should be taken as soon as the child repeats difficult behaviour so that negative behaviour is never allowed to dominate a lesson.

5. Remind the whole group at the end of session and beginning of next session why you are so firm on removing inappropriate behaviour and how much you care about creating a positive calm learning environment

Using this staged approach should always be done calmly and with respect and kindness.  If appropriate/necessary the teacher should then make sure that any child/children that might have been affected by the behaviour are okay and ask them to seek support from their parent if necessary.

We retain the right to exclude a child from LLP as there could be a situation where this is deemed to be in the best interest of the child and other children although we work hard to try to avoid this happening.

Online Conduct and Session Expectations

The Teacher should:

  • maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times
  • treat all students fairly and without discrimination
  • use appropriate language and behaviour at all times
  • ensure lesson content and delivery are appropriate to the age of the children and the subject being taught
  • report any safeguarding concerns or incidents
  • avoid inappropriate communication outside the platform·
  • manage behaviour consistently and fairly using LLP expectations and consequences as outlined above

The Student should:

  • join sessions five minutes before the class is due to start to make sure that camera and microphone are working and be ready to participate
  • always use appropriate language and behaviour
  • keep microphones muted unless invited to speak
  • use chat functions only for lesson-related communication
  • ensure usernames are the same as their LLP username (generated when child profile set up) without additional information except pronouns in brackets if they want to add them)
  • ensure profile images, and backgrounds are appropriate;
  • not record, download, or share lesson content without permission
  • participate from a safe and suitable environment
  • wear appropriate clothing (we are very happy for children to wear any clothes that they feel relaxed in but we do need parents to make sure that clothing covers underwear)
  • not communicate outside lessons unless agreed and monitored by the parent·
  • report any concerns to a parent/carer/teacher

The Parent/Carer should:

  • ensure their child understands behaviour expectations
  • supervise participation where appropriate
  • provide a safe learning environment
  • ensure their child joins on time
  • monitor their child’s communication·
  • report any concerns to the teacher via messages or LLP admin via email
