LLP now offer a new learning competition every single month!
Our monthly learning competitions can be entered by any home educated child aged 5 to 16 (they do not need to be attending LLP classes currently). The idea of the competitions is simple – to encourage children to get excited on any of the various competition themes and create something that they are proud of, in the hope of winning a fantastic prize and getting mentioned and celebrated on our Competition Wall of Fame!
The cost of each competition is £4.20 (inc VAT) per entry but if you want FREE entry to all 12 competitions click on the button below to find out about our annual community membership!

Remember that the winner of all of our competitions be will someone who has demonstrated a huge effort in planning and delivering their work. We are looking for excellent presentation, out of the box thinking and creative problem solving! We want to be wowed!! If things don’t go quite to plan, tell us about it in the evaluation. This is all part of the learning and sometimes it can be just as impressive when things go wrong but you learn from that as when things are perfect!
Most of our competitions ask for a short written or recorded evaluation of the learning process. If you are under the age of 8 or you do not feel you can do the evaluation alone, you can ask an adult to help you with this part as long as you make it clear on the evaluation itself ie: “Evaluated by Sam and his Mum”
The deadline for competition entry is 12 midnight on the last day of each calendar month and the winners will be announced within one week of the deadline via social media and winners will be contacted by email too!
UPCOMING MONTHLY COMPETITIONS IN 2026
June – World Culture Exploration
Choose any country you want and create your very own poster about the country which helps other people to understand what is special and unique about this country, why they should visit it and fun local customs they might experience whilst there.
Include a short evaluation (written or recorded on video) explaining what country you chose to write about and why and what choices you made and any difficulties you encountered along the way and how you overcame them.
With an adult, choose a science experiment that you can safely conduct using items found around the home. Plan your experiment, put together a list of equipment that you will need and safety factors to consider. Conduct the experiment, keeping a record of every stage of the experiment. Finally evaluate your scientific process – what went right, what went wrong and what you might do differently next time.
Visit the library or buy a second hand book on classifying trees, plants, birds, insects, butterflies or flowers.
Pack a picnic and go with an parent/carer for a trip to the local forest or park and find and classify as many plants or creatures as you can.
You can choose to just focus on flowers or you can dip in and out of everything that your book can help you to identify. Of course you can use an online resource too – we just think it might be nice to be a bit “old school” and keep your phone in your pocket while you are out exploring!
Stay with your adult and keep safe at all times but have a really fun day.
As long as you include the titles of what you think you found , you can choose how you record your results – a photo of each, a sketch and a description or you might even pick some leaves (as long as it isn’t an endangered or dangerous plant) and press them. Let your adult help you to make the right decisions and then get creative with displaying your findings!
Don’t forget to include the total number of classifications that you made!
Include a short evaluation (written or recorded on video) your day in nature and any difficulties you encountered along the way and how you overcame them.
September – Public Speaking / Performance Festival
Create your own speech, role play, mime or storytelling showcase and record a video. Your video should be no longer than 2 minutes long. We are looking for atmosphere, character, drama and imagination! Use your voice, your face, your body language, costume lighting and props, other members of your family – as many elements as you want to to bring your story or speech or role play alive on your video and have fun!
Include a short evaluation (written or recorded on video) what you chose to perform as well as any difficulties you encountered along the way and how you overcame them.
Use software of your choice (Canva, PowerPoint, etc) to create a presentation about something you feel passionate about. This could be a hobby or interest of yours or a “cause” that you want to share with others. We are looking for you to show off your IT skills and IT creativity in producing a presentation that is no longer than 2 minutes or 12 slides.
Include a short evaluation (written or recorded on video) explaining what you have created and any choices you made or difficulties you encountered and how you overcame them.
Choose any artistic medium you like – painting, collage, sculpture, doodling, printing etc, and create your own masterpiece! Create a short evaluation (written or recorded on video) explaining what you have created and any choices you made or difficulties you encountered and how you overcame them as well as how you feel about your piece. If you want to you can include feedback from other people who have seen your masterpiece.
Discuss this month’s competition with an adult before you start. Choose a way that you can be kind to your family, your friends or your community this month. This can be as simple as committing to random acts of kindness each day (choosing a different person to be kind to each day and recording what you did and what the results were) or as big as contacting an old people’s home and going to visit and play music /sing for the people who live there. Plan your kindness mission and execute it with help from your adult. Write a short evaluation (written or recorded on video) explaining what you planned and how it went including any choices you made or difficulties you encountered and how you overcame them as well as the impact that your kindness might have had.
Check out the prizes you can win, you will be able to choose what ever prize you want, all you need to do is enter the competitions
