GCSE Spanish (AQA) Year 2 Topics (age guide 14 – 16)

¡Hola, y bienvenidos!

Welcome to our AQA GCSE Spanish Year Two course

This course is the follow-on to our AQA GCSE Spanish year one course, or for students who have studied Spanish for several years before joining LLP.  In addition to the present tense, the course assumes knowledge of the immediate future, the past, and the conditional tenses;  but all of these tenses will be revised over the year.  The course is based on the textbook AQA GCSE Spanish Foundation (by John Halksworth), units 5, 6 and 7.  In addition to revisiting some previously studied topics, we will cover these three topics:  Customs, Festival & Celebrations, Celebrity Culture, and Travel & Tourism.  This will give you a good grasp of the final three of the nine GCSE topics, as well as helping you review vocabulary and grammar previously learnt. You will be have further practice in GCSE exam style tasks, and you will prepare for the 3 different elements of the GCSE speaking exam.

Materials:
You do not need to buy a textbook, as all materials will be provided on the website, although of course, you may wish to buy your own copy so that you can make notes on it in class.
Please check the entries under “materials” for each lesson, as that’s where I’ll post Class Documents (sheets that, ideally, need to be printed out before that specific lesson) and Optional Tasks (additional, optional tasks for those children who to wish to practise what they’ve learnt after the lesson).

It’s always helpful to have pen and paper ready in case you need / want to write something down during the lesson.

Due to the success of our trial with having recordings of some GCSE classes as mini courses on llpextralearningspace.co.uk we are including these course topics within our mini courses. This then allows you to buy previous lessons in topic packs either for revision purposes or to do a previous topic yourselves. This will potentially then over the next couple of years enable either part or the whole course to be bought instead or as well as our live lesson/ recording for two weeks. We recognise that this will have some issues for those that do not wish to be on camera. So we are changing the format of this class very slightly so that the visual register and any informal discussions happen before and after the lesson itself is recorded. The teachers will all have their settings set to speaker view so that the thumbnail of whoever is speaking will only be highlighted when or if they speak. If they don’t wish to be seen while speaking they can also switch off their video before speaking or at any part of the lesson after the visual register. If this causes any further concerns at all though do contact us to set up a password.
