ISSUE: 6 FRIENDSHIP

Hello everyone,

I sat down to write the newsletter after having a conversation with an LLP mum about the LLP friendships that they have made (the mum and the children). I love finding out the stuff that happens outside of lessons, and away from our platform. The fact that some of our children have really close friends that they met at LLP is just amazing! So I thought I would make the theme of the newsletter friendship, because I would love all of our children to have “LLP friends” and I think that I can help to make that happen by highlighting a few things that you and your child might not know are available.

TIME TO SOCIALISE!

Feel Good Clubs

Come along weekly to our Feel Good sessions to learn smart ways to look after yourself emotionally and mentally and to hang out and make friends. This club needs to be attended live as it is not recorded.

Feel Good Club (age guide 5 – 11) Tuesday 3pm

Feel Good Club (age guide 12 – 16) Wednesday 2pm

HOW YOUR CHILD CAN MAKE LLP FRIENDS!

Does your child know that (with your permission) they can chat to their classmates in between lessons?

Once you’ve set up your child’s profile (head to Manage Child Account after your first booking to link them to their classes), they get their very own space where they can safely message other children in their classes. It’s a lovely way for them to say hello to someone they clicked with, or to build on a friendship that started in one of their lessons.

We also have social clubs — relaxed group spaces where children can get to know each other beyond lessons. For some children, just typing a first hello is a genuinely big deal. For others, noticing a quieter child and reaching out is a great skill to develop. Either which way, social skills need to be practised, and we love being able to offer some safe options to do this. Some of our social clubs listed opposite.

As always, please do keep an eye on your child’s messages so we can all make sure conversations stay kind and safe.

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS PINWIN

Carrying on with the theme of socialising – let’s think about kindness. I think we tend to expect kindness to naturally evolve but in actual fact, it is a skill, that gets better when we think about it and practise it! The “Random Acts of Kindness” PinWin allows children to learn about, think about and practise kindness. It turns kindness into a project which is exciting and empowering. There are 48 activities to choose from, all on the theme of kindness – lots of practical ideas as well as projects and topics and research. Your child wins their PinWin by completing 4 of the tasks of their choice.

Kindness is a really important thing to learn about and we are really proud of the strong emphasis that the PinWins learning ecosystem puts on the health and wellbeing of the whole child and their relationship with the world and with other people.

You can find out more about the Random Act of Kindness PinWin by clicking on the link.

By the way, if you haven’t signed up for PinWins yet, there are still a few founding member places left! Founding membership means that your monthly membership will be £2.50 for life (or until you cancel it!) and gives you access to all PinWins at the amazing price of £4.50 – 1 x discovery book, 1 x reference guide and free p & p for your child’s enamel badge every time! It has been amazing this week to see so many children starting their PinWin learning and being so excited to learn! You can find out more by visiting the PinWins site if you want to get involved. www.pinwins.co.uk

WEEKLY FAMILY WELLBEING IDEA

Carrying on with our theme of friendship, this week’s wellbeing idea is to ask everyone in the family to think of one person they haven’t spoken to in a while and reach out Depending on the age of the person reaching out, this could mean sending a voice note or a text, or even a drawing. You could talk to your child/children about how small acts of connection boost mood and self-worth for both the giver and the receiver. It feels good to give! Obviously make sure you are happy with who they are reaching out to and be involved.

LLP COMMUNITY FORUM FOR PARENTS

Finally, something to bring parents together! We have a brand new community forum on our Extra Learning Space — and it’s a lovely place to get to know other LLP parents!
If you have LLP Annual Community Membership, the forum is already included! If you don’t have community membership, you can join the forum for just £4 a month, although it’s worth knowing that if you plan to be in the forum for more than six months, Annual Community Membership actually works out cheaper and comes with a whole lot of extras besides.
Community Membership gives your child (and you!) a real sense of belonging rather than just dipping in and out of LLP for individual lessons. There’s free access to our monthly competitions, termly parties, and some great freebies to help your family feel truly part of our community.
Of course, if you’d prefer to join the forum without full community membership, you can absolutely do that too. You can find out more and sign up here.
Once you have joined, introduce yourself and tell us a bit about yourself and your children! We look forward to chatting with you in there!
