Welcome to Classics! Looking forward to seeing you in one of my Classics classes soon 🙂

Classical Civilisations does not follow a two-year course plan, because there are quite a few students who have been in the class for three or more years now, and I don’t want to repeat topics for them. I tend to respond to student requests and see where their interests lie to plan one term ahead. I switch between one term of Greece and then one term of Rome. Autumn 1 (Sept 25) we will be doing the fall of the Roman Republic. Examples of topics which we have studied over the last couple of years include:

(Rome)
Emperors
Gladiators
Virgil’s Aeneid

(Greece)
Tragic playwrights and their plays
Greek heroes and their wives
Greek male/female gender roles and relationships
